We monitor our patient carefully during procedures that require general anesthesia. A veterinary technician will continually assess your pet’s heart and respiratory rate, blood pressure, temperature and other vital signs to help prevent any anesthetic risk.
Our surgery is equipped with a water-heating pad that helps maintain pet’s body temperature while they are under general anesthesia reducing the risk of problems and keeping your pet more comfortable.
Pain control is of the utmost importance to us and all patients undergoing a painful/uncomfortable procedure receive pre- operative pain/ anti-inflammatory medication, some procedures require local anesthesia as well (just like human dental patients receive). Of course, your pet is carefully monitored for discomfort after surgery and given additional pain relief as needed. Patients are also kept warm and cozy with heating discs as body temperature drops during surgery despite the warming pads. Rest assure at Campbell Road Veterinary Services we treat every patient like they are our own pets.
Please feel free to ask us about our patient monitoring protocol or any concerns you might have about your pet’s procedure.
