The “Al Fund” to Aid Homeless Animals Receive the Veterinary Care
We hold fundraising events throughout the year with the money we raise from our “Al Fund”, which is a fund used to provide veterinary care for unwanted/unowned animals.
The Beginning of the “AL Fund”
“Al Pacino” was a feral cat that was found by a farmer and brought to us just after we opened the clinic in 2010. Al had been attacked by another animal and sustained considerable damage to his face. We have repaired his face, removed teeth, vaccinated, de-wormed and neutered him and nursed him through some other medical issues. During that time, Al became the friendliest cat we have ever seen. Unfortunately, the damage to his face left many scars, hence the name “Al Pacino, aka “Scar Face”. But what he lacks in looks, he by far makes up for in personality.
Al was just the first animal to enter our hospital without a loving family in his life. Al is the reason that the ‘Al Fund” was born. This fund was created by Campbell Road Veterinary Services to help pay for the veterinary care of unowned and abandoned pets. Dr. O’Grady provides the veterinary expertise and the fund helps pay for the supplies that each animal needs but even with the “Al Fund” and all the very generous donations and fund raising events, much of the costs are covered by Dr.O’Grady personally.
Thankfully, many of the pets we have helped have found families and enjoy the benefits of being loved.
Unfortunately, we can’t help them all, but the “Al Fund” is replenished through our fundraising events and by personal donations by caring pet lovers. It is, however, not a registered charity and therefore no tax receipts can be issued.
